Our Story

NESRA was founded in 2018 to address a gap: Nepal had no dedicated institution working on space science, space technology, and the broader space economy, despite clear and growing relevance to the country’s development challenges.

NESRA was founded by Anamol Mittal, an aerospace engineer with a Master’s in Space Studies from the International Space University (ISU) in France — the first person from Nepal to attend ISU. His experience in the European space sector, including Horizon 2020 space research projects, spaceport and launch vehicle programs, space traffic management, and satellite industry strategy, shaped NESRA’s early direction toward institution-building, capability development and international engagement.

Since 2018, NESRA has grown from an outreach-focused initiative into an organization building formal practice areas in research, capacity building, and policy, and convening international engagement through initiatives such as the Everest Aerospace Summit.

The National Space Meet of Nepal became an early platform for technical exchange, student engagement and international participation.
