Our Work — Space Policy & Ecosystem Development
Space Policy & Ecosystem Development
This is NESRA’s newest and least mature strategic area — currently ambition and groundwork rather than a track record of policy output.
Why This Matters for Nepal
Nepal has no national space agency and no dedicated space policy framework. Before Nepal can have effective space policy, it needs stakeholder dialogue, awareness, and an evidence base — the foundational work NESRA is positioned to help build.
Documented Foundations
NESRA’s 2021 IAC research paper included policy recommendations for Nepal’s government as part of a broader roadmap — the clearest documented policy-oriented output to date. NESRA’s convening work (National Space Meet, SpaceGeneration[Nepal]) and its 2025 MoU with SIA-India, whose own mission includes policy advocacy, also build toward ecosystem development, even though they are not policy outputs in themselves.
Where This Is Going
NESRA’s strategic direction is to grow from convening and awareness-building toward structured stakeholder dialogue and, over time, evidence-based policy recommendations for Nepal’s space sector. NESRA has not yet produced dedicated policy briefs or documented influence on government policy — this page will be updated as that changes.
