Roadmap to Promote Nepal’s Contribution to the Space Industry

Abstract: The paper addresses the under-representation of developing countries in the global space arena, positioning NESRA as a private non-profit organisation working to build Nepal’s space sector. It notes that NESRA has organised the National Space Meet of Nepal since 2018 and analog-astronaut-related activities with international organisations. The paper outlines specific projects intended to promote Nepal’s contribution to the space industry — including a proposed analog astronaut base making use of Nepal’s high-altitude terrain — and sets out policy recommendations for Nepal to consider in order to foster space activities in the country.
